When you feel that you don't matter!

Life can dish many blows on so many different levels, causing you to feel hurt, ashamed, abused, and alone. One of the hardest things to deal with is, feeling like you don't matter to anyone when your world has seemingly fallen apart. It feels bad when the comfort that you are looking for isn't there, especially from those whom you'd expect to be there.

Should I take my life? Should I pray to die? How do I get through this pain? No one knows what I'm feeling, nor do they care. These are thoughts that many people have battled with while experiencing these hardships. If you are one who are having these thoughts, I want you to know that, you do matter.

1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your cares on Him, because He (God) cares for you." Most times we fight with the idea of God caring because we don't understand why a loving God would allow us to face some of the things that we face. Why would He allow me to fight like this? It seems that I'm losing. Why would He allow my heart to be broken like this? I've been crying for so long, and I just want to be happy. Why would He allow me to suffer like this? There seems to be no relief in sight. But I want you take a minute to look at something. Perhaps I can help you look at things a different way. So here are a few questions for you:

1. What did you gain from the heartbreak that you experienced? I understand that you suffered a loss, but do you see the things you have gained? What types of things?

  1. Wisdom... so that you won't keep allowing yourself to get involved in the same types of situations over and over again.

  2. Strength... you kept on moving despite of what you been through. Some people died there, but not you... you kept on moving. People always called you weak...but my friend, you're not weak...because you stayed in the race. So you're actually stronger than you thought. Ecclesiastes 9:11 says, "The race is not given to the swift, nor is the battle given to the strong...

  3. Knowledge of who God is: If you were kept (and if you are still here, then you have been kept) ... so you can see that God is a keeper. You can also see that God is a "Way Maker". He still made ways for you even when you didn't know how you were going to make it.

2. How are you still alive? It is because God had His hands on you, and didn't allow you to stay where you were. Even when Elijah was afraid, overwhelmed, and depressed, the Lord encouraged him. He came to the cave to hang out with Him and shed some light on some things. You can overcome, because other people have gone through what you went through, and made it out.

a. (1 Peter 5:9  "Stand against him and be strong in your faith. Remember, other Christians

over all the world are suffering the same as you are. 10 After you have suffered for awhile,

God Himself will make you perfect. He will keep you in the right way. He will give you

strength.")

Allow those thoughts to resonate in your spirit for a bit. Where would I be if I didn't matter? Also, you'll find your strength in your praise. Begin to thank God for your life, and you'll be more excited about living life. Thank Him for breath in your body, and you'll be more excited about every breath that you take. You must show someone that there is life beyond hurt, embarrassment, divorce, separation, attacks, brokenness. There is still a reason to live. God chose you to demonstrate this to others. He knew that you wouldn't break...because He blew His breath in you.

So my dear brother and sister, the reason that you are living, is because YOU MATTER... TO GOD!!!!

Dear Lord, allow me to see how valuable my life is. Please pull the scales off of my eyes that satan has placed there so that I am not blind to Your grace and mercy. I owe you praise, and will continue to bless your name... because I do matter! In Jesus name...Amen
